A day in the life of

The morning commute
We planned to wake up at 2 am this morning to head to the Tsukiji Fish Market for the Tuna auction at 5 am (you have to get there super early in order to snag a spot), but unfortunately Kiel caught food poisoning or some sort of bug and was down for the count.

Instead we went to the market around 9am and could already smell the fresh fish as soon as we walked off the subway at Tsukiji Station.  I loved catching a little glimpse of the hustle and bustle of everyday life, but wish I could've seen the Inner market and wholesale area as well. There may be time to try before we leave, but I won't be too bummed out if we don't.

Since Kiel wasn't feeling too well, he went home to rest and I took the subway back over to Harujuku for a few hours.

The main street was lined with high end shops and little alleyways of boutiques that I enjoyed getting lost in. There was no line for Ice Monster this time so I went in and ordered a Mango shaved ice. I watched as everyone around me scraped their bowls clean and thought there was no way I could finish it; it was devoured in 20 minutes.

After about four hours of perusing and people watching, I popped in to check on Kiel and then took a short subway ride to Roppongi for dinner. I ordered gyoza and ramen and I think it's safe to say I am pretty ramen-ed out.

After all the walking today and the several subway rides (you have to hike up 4-6 stairways/escalators at each station in order to exit), I am ready for bed! Hoping Kiel is on the mend by tomorrow. And as our day is ending, for most of our friends and family it is just beginning. Have a great one!
