Hoi An

Yesterday we arrived in Hoi An, a delightful little old town.

We ended sharing a cab from the airport with two girls from Manchester, England who were on a three week vacation. They told us they were a little wary of taxis after getting ripped off and chased and yelled at by a driver the night before, so they probably figured they'd be better off tagging along with us. Fortunately we haven't experienced anything like that, but I've heard Vietnam can be a little dodgy in that sense.

We arrived at our hotel where our concierge, Rose was extremely accommodating, kind and humorous. She showed us to our room and since I was feeling okay, we decided to venture into the Old Town a few blocks away to check out the action.

Dinner at Hi Restaurant. A little family run restaurant off one of the main streets.
Still not 100% yet, I stayed in bed until about noon today and then we ventured out into the Old Town again. There are still motorbikes to dodge but nothing like Hanoi.

So charming and pretty!

I love all the lanterns!

These little guys 😍
Since Hoi An is known for their cheap, yet good quality clothing, Kiel wanted to get a custom made suit (so that means I can get 5 pairs of shoes?!). The process and service at Kimmy was great especially Kiel's tailor Ny, who told us her name is, "like New York, you know NY". She said I must be Korean because I have great skin, which was oddly the second time today (except the first woman was trying to get me to buy cards from her). Surprisingly Ny was not pushy and did not prompt me to have something made for myself, or try to get Kiel to purchase more than he wanted.

It was fun picking from all of the different styles and fabrics...follow along as Kiel's got three fittings until the suit is complete on Thursday!

Blue or blue?                                                                  Picking out the lining!

We had dinner at a local spot near our hotel. I don't think the food is as good in Hoi An as it was in Hanoi, but we (and by we I mean Kiel) finished the plate anyways.

Sitting on little stools...
