And back across the United States we go!
September 13, 2017: After 24+ hours of travel (Aukland to Tahiti; Tahiti to LA; LA to JFK; car ride from JFK to Albany) we finally made it back to the U.S. and to my hometown in Albany, NY.
The first few days were quite an adjustment period --we had terrible jet lag and tried to get used to our old, familiar surroundings and a new routine. But we couldn't have been happier to see my family and of course Daisy! We met up with some friends, relaxed, and took a trip to Indian Ladder farms where Kiel had his first apple picking experience (and apple cider donuts)!
Then it was on to Baltimore...but first a quick stop in D.C. to visit our cousins and RQ!
We were only in Baltimore for one night to see the Orioles game. At this point I can't even tell you who they played or what the score was...π
Kiel's lucky number |
We stopped in Charlotte, NC for one night after driving all day. We didn't have much time to explore the city but Kiel was able to get some tasty fried chicken!
En route to Georgia...
We met with my Aunt Noreen, and cousins Jenny, Mike and Daisy for lunch while in Atlanta. What a great visit!
And then went to the Braves game that night...It was a newer stadium but not one of Kiel's favorites as it felt a bit like an amusement park/self-contained entertainment complex.
September 21st - we made our way to Jackson Lake, Alabama to visit the fictional town of Spectre, the custom set where one of my favorite movies, Big Fish is located. And of course, it was only appropriate to throw my well traveled sneakers up on the wire.
"Roses are red, violets are blue, I love Spectre" |
It was also great to visit and catch up with my cousin Chris, who was kind enough to show us around Auburn and introduce us to his good friend and former MLB pitcher, Tim Hudson. Kiel was like a kid in a candy store looking at all of his baseball memorabilia.
Thank you again to Chris and the Hudson family for kindly welcoming us into your home!
The largest video screen in college football is behind there! |
We were told a visit to Auburn wouldn't be complete without stopping at Toomer's Corner, an Auburn tradition since 1896. |
Tim Hudson and Kiel wearing the 2014 Giants World Series ring...NBD! |
It was so wonderful we got to spend time with you guys on your way back homeππ
